One Byte at a Time

The life of a bedroom game developer is not easy. Fitting in one more thing on top of work, family, sport, and friends is a daily challenge. This is not a complaint, but rather an excuse for the slow pace of development.

Of course, there has been some progress, and the goal is slowly becoming visible: a gameplay test has recently been carried out, and valuable feedback from participants has been incorporated. The gameplay has been refined, and now only the levels are being assembled for final testing.

48 kilobytes is not a lot. I'm experiencing all this day by day: the biggest challenge is to eliminate the 'Out of memory' error message, but I'm on track with that too. Some simplification was necessary, which I think has been good for the game: the graphics are now more transparent, but the game hasn't lost any of its atmosphere. At least I hope so.

There's also a "spectacular" intro, which, if it doesn't make it into the game - although I hope to find some free bytes for it - will be released as a trailer.

To sum up, I'm making progress. More news and some sneak peek videos will be coming soon. And I hope to welcome you to the first chapter of the u_nvrz soon.

Great to read that you are still at it!

I'm almost at the goal line ;) Intense testing, bug fixing, and the game will be finished. I'm still working on getting music in the game - although due to my limited memory, that's a big question mark for now.
